We first went to South-East Asia in 2001 and spent 2 months travelling through Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Afterwards, I had 4 different exhibitions of travel photography mainly from this trip, and some of these pictures have continued for a long time to haunt me with their beauty. In particular, the Burmese children celebrating the entry of one of them into the monastery have become the heroes of my installations afterwards, and there can well be more influence in my work from that world that I might not even notice myself.
