The almost sterile atmosphere of Singapore is quite a contrast to the rest of Asia, Malaysia included. At any time you feel that the whole city must have been repainted just the day before. You feel like walking through the sets in a theatre before the first night.
In Melacca I was about to lean on a gravestone when taking pictures in the old cathedral. A souvenir seller pushed me off rather crudely and thereby probably saved my life: a snake had curled into the cool curves of the old ornament on the stone.
